Riptide Studio creates a new generation of “Place” focusing on people experience, community development and long-lasting city image and identity.
“Riptide Studio” is the first Chinese “Placemaker" and is dedicated to create vivid environment and thrill people's urban living experiences. Riptide created in 2009 proposes today complete solutions through its cross-disciplinary and multi-cultural expertise combining Place’s Planning, Design and Activation, Researches & Training.
Passionate about urban identity, Michael gains his recognition as “Placemaker" through a rich experience a as landscape architect and urban designer and personal researches and development of alternative practices of urban development.
Michael created RIPTIDE in 2009 convinced that “Placemaking" is an accurate and innovative solution to answer modern urban issues, develop progressive and active community and offer a refined way of life.
Established in China since 2007, Mr Michael MH PATTE French Landscape Architect titled “DPLG” by the French Government, have over 20 years of design experience within 10 years on Chinese market.
Passionate about urban identity, Mr. Patte began to create and organize events in order to experiment urban and cultural activation solutions since 2007 in China with “RIPTIDE Collective”. These events called “Coaster Raid”, “Window to my World”, “Les Nuits Esthetes”, “My Village is Rich”, "PechaKucha"... are tirelessly questioning the relations between city and citizen.
In 2009, Mr. Patte initiates “Riptide Studio” to develop further these researches on city identity and branding, and combine them in his own design practice.
Today, "Riptide Studio" has successfully achieved numerous projects all over China and the company is proud of being invited by many companies and developers to develop innovative design solutions for their specific and strategic projects.
Regularly, Michael MH PATTE presents his unique design approach in articles and lectures. His book titled “Et Pendant Ce Temps En Chine” (“And during this time in China”) have been awarded the ‘Most Popular Web Literature’ and published by the first European TV Media. Nowadays, Riptide proposes a researches and training program to professionals, students or enthusiasts.
In March 2014, Michael has been awarded “10 Best Shenzhen Creative Designers”, UNESCO Shenzhen City Of Design; an attribution by the government for his dedication in urban culture. Through active involvement in local culture and community, Michael Patte has a unique and in-depth approach in city development and design.
